CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Here is a brief summary of notable crimes in and around Cheyenne, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Cheyenne Police Department and the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office.

Public Intoxication, Aug. 14, Garnet Way

Officers were dispatched to a 911 hang-up. Upon arrival, officers observed the defendant running up to a door and knocking on it. An officer attempted to contact the defendant, who began running down the street and yelling about how they almost hit their neighbor’s trailer and were trying to tell the neighbor. The officer observed that the defendant smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. The defendant became belligerent and argumentative and failed to comply with orders. The officer placed the defendant under arrest soon after.

Interference with a Peace Officer, Aug. 14, 2nd Street and Evans Avenue

Officers were dispatched to a call of a suspicious vehicle. The officer observed a white camper trailer on the side of the road with no license plates. The officer approached the trailer and identified the defendant inside. The defendant had a metal pipe in their hands and was attempting to light it. The officer observed that the pipe was similar to the ones used to smoke fentanyl. The defendant saw the officer approaching and attempted to hide the pipe under their leg. The officer asked to have the pipe, and the defendant handed it to the officer. The officer asked if the trash around the camper was theirs, and the defendant stated that they were living out of their camper. The officer was walking away to print the parking and littering ticket when the defendant tried to run away. The officer chased the defendant and eventually placed them under arrest.
