There are a number of road works being undertaken in Darlington with pletny of road works and road closures you should know about.

As the weekend approaches, many Darlington residents will be on the lookout to ensure their travel plans go as smoothly as possible.

These road works often lead to disruption to traffic flow in the town, with some even resulting in full road closures.

Here’s the full list of road closures and major road works taking place in Darlington between Saturday (July 29) and Sunday (July 30).

St Augustine's Way - lane closure

St Augustine's Way in Darlington is set to be closed on Saturday and Sunday.

The location of the closure is the Former Job Centre, at the junction with Bondgate Roundabout.

The reason is to accomodate scaffolding, with window replacement works ongoing.

Coniscliffe Road - lane closure

A section of Coniscliffe Road will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.

The location of the closure will be at various points along Coniscliffe Road.

This is to accomodate works being undertaken within the carriageway opposite Clerfvaux bakery down to the County courts. There will also be works ongoing on the corner opposite Hoskins.

Houndgate - C/W incursion

Houndgate will be impacted by ongoing works on Saturday and Sunday.

The location of the works will be on the side of the Dolphin Centre.

The reason for this disruption is utility and maintenance works.

John Street - multi-way signals

There will be disruption on John Street on Saturday and Sunday.

The location of the works be from the MKM entrance to JCT Valley Street North.

The reason for this disruption is utility and maintenance works.

West Auckland Road - C/W incursion

There will be disruption on West Auckland Road on Saturday and Sunday.

The location of the works is opposite West Auckland Road and Spring Court.

The reason for this disruption is stub end investigation works.

The Broadway - give and take traffic management

There will be disruption on The Broadway on Saturday and Sunday.

The location of the works is The Broadway in Darlington.

The reason for this is excavation to locate and repair leak on a main.

Duke Street - Road closure

The road will be closed on Duke Street on Saturday and Sunday.

The location of the works is Duke Street in Darlington.

The reason for this is carriageway and footway refurbishment to accomodate a cycle lane on Duke Street.

Woodland Road - road closure

The road will be closed on Woodland Road on Saturday and Sunday.

The location of the works is from the junction of Portland Place to Hollyhurst.

The reason given for this is carriageway and footpath refubishment, as well as remedial works

McNay Street - road closure

The road will be closed on McNay Street on Saturday and Sunday.

The location of the works is from the junction of High Northgate to Stephenson Street.

The reason for this is the Railway Heritage Scheme.

Hutton Avenue - road closure

The road will be closed on Hutton Avenue on Saturday and Sunday.

The location of the works is 63 Hutton Avenue.

The reason for this is to excavate and carry out sewage repair works.
